A Good Laugh!

I think it is time for a good laugh. So I am going to tell everyone a super-duper FUNNY story. It stars Lexi and Kenny, although Kenny doesn't do anything but sleep. Through the whole thing! . . .

Lexi the Artist

Once upon a time there was a little 2 year old named Alexandra. She went by Lexi. Lexi had a new little brother who was 2 months old. His name was Kenneth. He went by Kenny.

Lexi loved Kenny very much, but she was very curious. She noticed that he had something that she didn't. Mommy explained to her that only boys have them. She told Lexi they were "Winkie"s.

Lexi was fascinated with Kenny's Winkie, but thought that it needed a little improvement. So one day when Daddy was 'supposed' to be watching, Lexi got in Mommy's makeup and took out her mascara. Daddy still wasn't paying attention, so Lexi unsnapped Kenny's jammies and opened his diaper. (Kenny, fully exposed in front of his sister, couldn't have cared less. He was fast asleep and a fog horn couldn't have woken him up!) Lexi found her medium, and began painting.

30 seconds later Mommy came out of the bathroom to find Lexi and Kenny on the bed. And what an appalling site greeted her! Kenny, in sweet slumber, had a black Winkie, covered completely in mascara!!!!

(No, I didn't take pictures. Should I? Or would it have embarrassed the kids later in life?)

Lexi has hereby created a new art. Winkie Painting!

And now I will post pix.

Lexi and her BF Parker splashing in puddles.

I love this pix I took at Valley Falls. (Lexi calls it "Family Falls." Ha!)

Lexi and Kenny are so cute!

I also love this pix of Lexi. So full of character!

Here is my handsome devil! So cute and fat!

Lexi likes to take pix now too!

Silly Lexi . . .

As she sat on a tire swing and heard it go, "Crrriiiick . . ." on it's old creaky chain, Lexi noted, "The swing tooted!"

Ha ha! Classic . . .

What a Day!

"If life is a bowl of cherries, what am I doing in the pits?"
-Erma Bombeck (American humor writer)

Okay, so this is how a lot of my day felt today. Why was this day worse than others? Kenny has been teething lately and Lexi can be downright mean to him and disobedient to me when she doesn't get the attention she craves. And so, instead of having a mildly grumpy baby, I get a supremely unhappy little guy whenever big sister decides she is mad at him. And then I get mad at Lexi and then she throws a tantrum and yada yada yada . . . The pits. And to top it all off, I don't have a car and Carl works (keeping the car) until 8:20.

Most of the day has gone decently well. But when we went to the Library, Lexi decided to jump at Kenny and knock him down when he was sitting. And since she jumped, he hit his head pretty hard. So he had a big crying fit, of course. Poor little guy! And so I needed to punish Lexi for hurting Kenny (by taking away her CareBear). Which resulted in her making noise as well. We got outta there pretty fast, although I wasn't going to leave without my books! : )

Things calmed down until after our supposed "nap" time (which never really happened). It never happened because Lexi just made a giant mess in her room for an hour and Kenny wanted to stay up with me. He was really cute and sweet for a few minutes though! Then he got grouchy again. So, I had no much needed break! After talking with a friend on the phone for a few minutes I thought maybe I would let my kids have an early bath since they love them so much, and then maybe I could have a little break while I sat in the bathroom supervising. But then Lexi decided to pinch Kenny. So I yanked her out of the tub and was sending to her room when I realized that Kenny suddenly stopped making any noise. Horrified, I ran back to the bathroom to find that he had tipped over and was on his stomach with his head elevated trying not to breath in any water. I fished him out of the tub as fast as I could and tried to comfort him while he wailed apoplectically. By this time, my heart was racing and I was about as mad as I could be. Not so much because of Kenny , but because of all the frustration. I wanted to punch the wall, which is so not me! So, wrapping Kenny in a towel, I laid him in his baby seat so that I could step into my bedroom to cool off. Quickly the anger melted into tears and I just wanted to have a good cry. But Kenny was still crying himself, so I went back to him. I then started nursing him, which calmed him down. Then I had Lexi return to her room to try once more to take a nap (and to let me recuperate and regroup brain cells :) ) I let her out in 15 min. and by the Kenny was happy and peaceful again as was Lexi.

These are some of the thought that were going through my head today:
~ "If I can't manage two children, how am I going to be able to manage any more!"
~ "I am a terrible mother."
~ "What was I thinking leaving Kenny in the tub for even a second?"
~ "I need more patience with Lexi. Why don't I have more?"
~ "I hate my house." (random, I know)

I hope I don't have many more days like this, but maybe I will just learn to weather them better in the future. However, I know I am not alone in days like these. Or thoughts like these (unfortunately). Who else has survived a dreadful day full of "the pits"?

Why Do I Need a Title? . . .

Well, I think it is about time for more pictures, but I can't think of any jaunty title to go with them. So what! Who needs a title, anyway? Ha! : ) j/k

We love to go to the Park! Isn't Lexi sweet with chunky little Kenny?

Kenny loves the rocks at the park! He is so so so so cute!

Here Kenny is in his walker and making silly faces. He pulls faces whenever I pull out Nikon!
Just like his Daddy!

I love Lexi and her silly self!

2 cuties in a bucket! One with a pineapple tummy, the other with a roly-poly tummy!

Who is else is loving these Olympics? I think the Men's Gymnastics are amazing! The Women's Gymnastics are seriously awesome as well. I just love it all!!!

Breaking Dawn

What did I think of this book? Well, brace yourselves, Twilight fans. I was sorely disappointed! The whole climax fell with a big, fat "FLOP!" What the heck? As a matter of fact, there was no climax!! Stephanie Meyer is a great writer, but I felt like she rushed the ending and didn't give it the right and proper resolution. She puffed it up like a balloon about to pop, and then, "THHhhbbbbbsssss . . . ." It deflated! No big boom, no pizzaz, no nothin'!! What kind of ending was that??? I felt like I had wasted my money when I finished.

There were too many other conflicts that she set up and never smoothed out. What happened with Leah? And Jacob's pack? And did Jacob go back to school? Did anybody else feel cheated that Jane got to walk away?

I felt like there were so many cliches all over the place, but there's no need to go into that!!!

The mushy romance (which was really just infatuation) was getting really old to me. Eventually you get a brain again, and then you find out what real love is! Which doesn't involve panting over good looks and being ready to faint all the time! I love my romance as much as anybody else, but this is just pish-posh!

And why, oh why did she have Jacob imprint on Renesme???? I think that Jacob and Leah should have been together. That would have been perfect.

I also think that Stephnie Meyer must be Masochistic. She seems to be turned on by violence. Weird.

And last of all, I wish that Bella would have learned to be happy with herself as a human before she became a vampire. That would have been better, and healthier for her!

Okay, all done. No more bashing on a book that I still enjoyed reading, despite all of my criticisms. So, hopefully nobody is too upset (Celeste? That means you!) This is just my opinion, after all!

Phone conversations just aren't the same anymore ! . .

And why, one might ask? Since the arrival of two children, every aspect of my life has changed, as it should. However, I will never have an uninterrupted conversation on the phone again! (Well, not when my kids are awake!!!) So . . . here is how it usually goes:

*Rrrring! Rrrrring!*

Me: "Hello? Oh, Hi Mom! How are you?" (Lexi runs past me with no clothes on.) "Uh . . . hold on, okay?"

Me: (Chasing Lexi down and catching her amidst her loud protests) "You have to wear clothes. Hold still or you are going to sit on a chair!" (I wrestle her into her clothes and then set her free.)

~3 mintues later~

Me: "Okay Mom, I'm back. Lexi thinks she can be a nudist! Ha ha, I know. Blah blah blah . . ."

~ 1 minute goes by~

Kenny: "Waaaahh!!!"

Me: "Lexi! No, no!! Don't squash Kenny. (Lexi lays on Kenny while he is having tummy time.) Hang on, Mom."

Lexi: "I Love Tenny!"

Me: (Prying Lexi off of a now grouchy Kenny.) "I do too, but you can't lay on Kenny. He doesn't like it. Why don't you go play with blocks?" (I get Lexi set with some blocks and she plays happily. I set Kenny up next to her and he is happy at the moment too! Hooray!!!)

Me: "Alright, I'm back. Sorry Mom! So, what happened at the office today? . . ."

~4 minutes later~

Lexi: "I want graham crackers and milk!" (very small pause) "I WANT GRAHAM CRACKERS AND MILK!!!" (Lexi marches into the kitchen and begins raiding the fridge.)

Me: *Sigh* "Mom, can you hold on again?"

Me: "Lexi, you need to ask nicely. Can you say please?"

Lexi: "Pwease?" (Lexi receives her Graham crackers and milk and eats contentedly. I finish my conversation quickly because Kenny is starting to fuss.)

Total Time Lapsed: 10 min. of conversation + 8 min. of interruptions = 18 minutes! We almost made it to 20! Wheew!
